A Lucia le encantaban las flores.
Lucia loves flowers
Siempre que se portaba bien - lo que ocurría muy a menudo, porque Lucia era una niña muy obediente - su madre la llevaba a un parque donde había muchisimas: algunas tan pequeñas como sus lindos deditos, y otras... ¡hasta más grandes que ella!
En el parque había una tienda donde se podían comprar flores. Un día Lucia preguntó a su madre:
- ¿Puedo llevarme una?
- Can I have one?
- No sé, no sé ... - dudó su madre.
- I don't know, I don't know ... - her mother hesitated.
- ¡Yo la cuidaré! - insistió Lucia.
- I'll take care of her! - Lucia insisted.
- Um... ¿me lo prometes?
- Um ... can you promise me?
- ¡Siiiii! - contestó Lucia.
- Yeah! - Lucia answered.
- Entonces elige una - le propuso su madre.
- Then choose one - proposed his mother.
- ¡Chachi! -festejó Lucia.
- Chachi! Lucia celebrated.
Pero ahora Lucia tenia una gran duda:
But now Lucia had a great doubt:
- ¿Qué flor me llevo?
- What flower should I take?
De entre todas las flores, a Lucia le gustó una que parecía un poco asustada.
Of all the flowers, Lucia liked one that looked a bit scared.
- ¿Cómo te llamas? - le preguntó
- What is your name? - she asked
- No tengo nombre - respondió la flor con timidez.
"I don't have a name," the flower replied shyly.
- Pues te llamaré... ¿Flowy!
- Well, I'll call you ... Flowy!
- ¿Flowy? - repitió la flor- ¿Me gusta!
- Flowy? - repeated the flower- I like it!
entonces, Lucia le propuso:
then, Lucia proposed:
- ¿Quieres venirte a casa conmigo?
- Do you want to come home with me?
- Es que... me da un poco de miedo...
- It's just ... I'm a little scared ...
- Si vienes - le dijo Lucia - te cuidaré mucho y... ¿seremos las mejores amigas del mundo!
- If you come - Lucia said - I will take good care of you and ... will we be the best friends in the world!
¡Vaya! Eso sonaba muy bien, pensó Flowy. Así que respondió:
Wow! That sounded great, Flowy thought. So she replied:
- Vale. ¡me voy contigo!
- Ok. I'm going with you!
Durante el regreso a casa, Lucia fue pensando en todos los juegos que iba a enseñar a su nueva amiga.
During the return home, Lucia was thinking about all the games that she was going to teach her new friend.
Flowy, a su lado, aún no se creía que ya tenia un nombre. Y además... ¡para ella sola!
Flowy, by Lucia's side, still did not believe that she already had a name. And also ... for her alone!
Lucia puso a Flowy en la ventana más bonita de su casa, donde le daba mucho el sol.
Lucia put Flowy in the most beautiful window in her house, where the sun shone a lot.
Por las mañanas, la regaba con agua fresquera para que estuviese muy guapa.
In the mornings, Lucia watered her with cool water so that she would be very pretty.
Como a Lucia le gustaba bailar, un día decidió enseñar a su flor.
As Lucia liked to dance, one day she decided to teach her flower.
- ¡ Es muy fácil!
- Too easy!
- Es que... soy un poco vergonzosa... - dudó Flowy
- It's just ... I'm a bit embarrassed ... - Flowy hesitated
- ¡Venga, animate!
- Come on, cheer up!
La flor dio unos saltines al ritmo de la música.
The flower jumped to the beat of the music.
- ¿Ves? ¡Bailas my bien! -le felicitó Lucia.
- You see? You dance very well! Lucia congratulated her.
- ¡Eres muy buena profesora! -respondió Flowy.
- You are a very good teacher! Flowy replied.
Las dos amigas rieron juntas.
The two friends laughed together.
Y bailaron y bailaron...
And they danced and danced ...
Otro dia, jugaron al escondite:
Another day, they played hide and seek:
- ... seis, siete, ocho... - contaba Lucia, mientras Flowy se escondía tras un árbol del jardín- ...nueve, ¡diez! ¡Voy a buscarte!
- ... six, seven, eight ... - Lucia counted, while Flowy hid behind a tree in the garden - ... nine, ten! I'm going to find you!
- ¡Estoy aqui! - contestó Flowy, saliendo rápidamente de su escondite.
- I'm here! Flowy replied, rushing out of his hiding place.
- ¡Pero no me lo digas, que te encuentro!
- But don't tell me, I'll find you!
- le eseplicó Lucia, muerta de risa.
- Lucia replied, dying of laughter.
¡Me parece que Flowy no se había aprendido bien las reglas!
It seems to me that Flowy had not learned the rules well!
También les gustaba mucho disfrazarse:
They also really liked dressing up:
Lucia de princesa, y Flowy de hada madrina.
Lucia as a princess, and Flowy as a fairy godmother.
- ¡Quiero una diadema mágica, hada madrina! - le pidió Lucia a su flor.
- I want a magic tiara, fairy godmother! Lucia asked her flower.
- ¡Como desees, mi princesa! - respondió Flowy, agitando su resplandeciente varita.
- As you wish, my princess! Flowy replied, waving her glowing wand.
Entonces una hermosa diadema de color celeste apareció en la cabeza de su amiga.
Then a beautiful light blue headband appeared on her friend's head.
- ¡Chachi! - festejó Lucia.
- Chachi! - Lucia celebrated.
Y cuando llegó el cumpleaños de Lucia, hicieronuna fiesta... ¡con tarta y todo! Las dos amigas soplaron juntas las velas.
And when Lucia's birthday arrived, they threw a party ... cake and all! The two friends blew out the candles together.
¡Cuatro años ya!
Four years old already!
Al día siguiente, Flowy esperó a que Lucia fuera a verla.
The next day, Flowy waited for Lucia to come to see her.
Pero su amiga no apareció.
But her friend did not appear.
- ¿Le habrá pasado algo? - se preguntó Flowy, muy preocupada.
- Has something happened to her? - Flowy wondered, very concerned.
Y aunque era un poco asustadiza, decidió ir en su busca.
And although she was a little scared, she decided to go looking for her.
Cuando la encontró, Lucia estaba jugando con los juguetes que le habian regalado por su cumpleaños.
When Flowy found her, Lucia was playing with the toys that had been given to her for her birthday.
Se habia olvidado de su flor.
She had forgotten her flower.
Y Flowy se puso tan triste que comenzó a marchitarse.
And Flowy got so sad that she started to wither.
Mucho más tarde, la madre de Lucia descubrió a Flowy enferma.
Much later, Lucia's mother discovered Flowy ill.
- Umm... me parece que alguien no ha cumplido su promesa...
- Umm ... it seems to me that someone has not kept their promise ...
Entonces llamó a Lucia.
Then she called Lucia.
Cuando ella vio a su flor, se llevó un buen susto:
When Lucia saw her flower, she was shocked:
-¿Qué le ha pasado a Flowy?
-What happened to Flowy?
-No sé, no sé... ¿Te acordaste de regarla?
-I don't know, I don't know ... Did you remember to water it?
-¡No! ¡Se me olvidó!
-No! I forgot!
-Pues creo que Flowy se ha secado.
-Well, I think Flowy has dried up.
-¿Secado? ¿Pero... eso qué significa?
-Drying? But ... what does that mean?
El silencio de su madre fue suficiente respuesta.
Her mother's silence was answer enough.
Lucia sintió tanta pena que lloró y lloró sobre su pobre Flowy.
Lucia felt so sorry that she cried and cried over her poor Flowy.
Lloró tanto, que se quedó dormida.
She cried so much that she fell asleep.
Y soñó con su amiga.
And she dreamed of her friend.
Su flor sonriente.
Your smiling flower.
Su flor feliz.
Her happy flower.
Entonces, alguien la despertó.
Then someone woke her up.
- ¿Eres tú, mamá? -preguntó Lucia, aún adormilada.
- Is it you, mom? Lucia asked, still sleepy.
Al abrir los ojos, descubrió...
Opening her eyes, she discovered ...
... ¡que era Flowy dando saltos de alegría!
... which was Flowy jumping for joy!
-¡Estás viva! -celebró Lucia.
-You are alive! Lucia celebrated.
-¡Sí! ¡Tus lágrimas me han curado!
-Yes! Your tears have healed me!
-¡Chachi! -festejó la niña, requetecontenta.
-Chachi! -the girl celebrated, very happy.
-¡Chachi! -repitió la flor, también fliz.
-Chachi! -the flower repeated, also fliz.
-Nunca volveré a olvidarme de ti -prometió Lucia a Flowy mientras la abrazaba.
"I'll never forget about you again," Lucia promised Flowy as she hugged Flowy.
Y nunca más lo hizo.
And she never did again.
